The “Rules” of Lobbying

A live-in-person workshop (or webinar) about what all public-policy advocates need to know about the rules of lobbying and political action in Canada, covering such matters as lobbying registration, political donations, advocacy restrictions on charities, NGOs, professional and trade associations.

 

Themes to be covered include:

  • different types of organization (trade association, charity or NGO) have different requirements, obligations and restrictions
  • determining compliance with lobbyists registration (at federal, provincial and local levels)
  • lobbyists registration compliance tips and templates
  • advocacy restrictions on some NGOs
  • the complex rules for registered “charities”
  • avoiding problems with political finance rules
  • managing the “risks”
